May 9th, 2003 Octapharma Opens US office In anticipation of its first product registration in North America, Octapharma has created a new US organisation and set up offices in Herndon, Virginia. Mr. David Hirsch has been appointed as General Manager for Octapharma USA Inc. and will report to Mr. Tobias Marguerre Area Manager of USA, Canada and Mexico. Octagam, Octapharma´s leading liquid intravenous immunoglobulin will be the first product to be launched by Octapharma in the USA, where it will help to meet the ever-growing demand for this life-saving therapeutic. Octagam is used to prevent and treat infections in patients with inherited or acquired deficiencies of the immune system, such as leukaemia and HIV. Octagam is also used to modify the immune system in many autoimmune diseases such as Guillain Barré Syndrome and immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Octapharma also plans to launch a number of other important plasma derived products in America, and is currently preparing a solid registration portfolio for submission to the FDA. Products to be registered in the near future include: Octagam 10%, Wiloctin and Albumin. It is anticipated that these products will launched within the next 2-5 years. © Octapharma AG, 2003 |
