Octapharma increases global presence


To complement the activities of Octapharma’s 17 full subsidiary offices, global coverage is achieved through teams of highly professional distributors, who share our vision to provide only the highest quality, virus inactivated plasma derivatives.

Appointed, and co-ordinated by our corporate headquarters in Lachen, Switzerland, Octapharmas’exclusive distributor network now extends throughout the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the pan-Pacific region.

Mr Frederic Marguerre, who is in charge of export markets – states “Our distributors are selected not only for their knowledge and understanding of local market dynamics but also for their willingness to commit to long-term partnerships with both Octapharma and the medical and patient communities that rely on our lifesaving biopharmaceuticals”

All our distributors receive extensive professional training in the Octapharma philosophy, products and services in order that they may truly represent the best interests of the company and provide their own customers with an added-value service.

Octapharma´s distributors are for example trained in the concept and benefits of plasma self-sufficiency in order that they can initiate projects, where appropriate, in their own regions. They also have direct access to each of the Octapharma Business Mangers so that they may keep constantly updated with product developments and receive the latest scientific information.

“Our distributors are an integral part of the Octapharma organisation. We anticipate that much of the future expansion of our business will come from these regions. We have set ambitious targets but I have very confidence that through our excellent distributors and partners will meet and exceed them” added Frederic Marguerre.

The highly specialised nature of Octapharma´s business has been recognised by many of our distributors who have enhanced their own organisations and created product specialist teams. For example, Thailand has recently appointed a dedicated divisional manager, marketing manager and team of experienced product specialists in order to best serve the challenges and opportunities of this rapidly expanding market.
Owner of the Thai distributorship, Khun Tirapongse explained “We are excited to be working with Octapharma. We have taken on their portfolio of world class products and are also fully committed to taking on the challenges of introducing them in Thailand. We have made substantial investments in developing our plasma division and have set ourselves high sales targets as we believe that the quality and safety of Octapharma´s products justifies this approach. Presently, a large part of our haemophilia population has little or no access to factor concentrate replacement. By working with physicians, patient and government organisations we hope to be able to improve the lives of haemophiliacs and their families”.

It is exactly this sort of commitment that has enabled other export markets to succeed. Key markets in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan and United Arab Emirates have achieved considerable and sustained sales growth. In recognition of the importance of this area and the achievements made by our distributors, Octapharma has established a regional office in Riyadh, which now serves as part of the Export Markets division.
Other territories, most notably Mexico and Brazil have evolved from distributorships to full Octapharma subsidiaries through the establishment of partnerships with the former distributors.
