Countdown to ISTH
In a break with tradition, Octapharma has taken an innovative approach to its booth activities during the ISTH Congress which will take place July 12th-17th in Birmingham, UK. To complement the scientific programme, Octapharma has planned an exciting schedule of events throughout the commercial exhibition. Each of the four days will focus on a different therapeutic area and will offer delegates a unique insight into the company philosophy, activities and product portfolio.
Monday 14th July will highlight Octapharma´s self-sufficiency programmes around the world. Delegates are invited to learn more about the benefits and logistics of self-sufficiency and will have the opportunity to test their knowledge in a prize draw.
On Tuesday 15th July the focus switches to ATenativ, Octapharma´s high purity, double virus inactivated antithrombin III. “Meet the Expert” sessions with Dr. Riitta Lassila from the University Hospital of Finland, will offer congress participants a stimulating discussion about the pathophysiology of sepsis and interaction of coagulation factors and their inhibitors. Delegates will also be able to view the related www.DICsepsis.org website and register for membership (by clicking this link you will leave the www.octapharma.com site).
Octaplas, Octapharma´s unique virus inactivated plasma for transfusion will be featured on Wednesday 16th July. Important new data will be presented on the incidence of Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury and its association with the infusion of fresh frozen plasma. Visitors to the booth will be able to learn how this potentially fatal complication can be avoided by the use of Octapharma´s high quality, cell free biopharmaceutical alternative. New pharmaco-economic data will also be presented showing that SD plasma can potentially save money as well as lives. Delegates will also have the opportunity to enter a quiz and win exciting prizes.
The final day of the exhibition, Thursday 17th July, will showcase Octapharma´s complete range of products for the treatment of haemophilia. Prof. Eric Berntop, University Hospital, Malmö, Sweden will offer his own unique insights into the eternal debate “Prophylaxis - is it worth the money?” Additionally, copies of a special 10 year anniversary edition of The Monitor will be available. This includes a selection of leading articles relating to haemophilia management and a foreword by Prof. Berntop.
