Octapharma - Investing in people

Crucial to Octapharma´s global expansion programme are its people, and none more so than the sales representatives, who provide frontline interface with our clients and key stakeholders. Recognising the importance of this role, Octapharma has long been committed to recruiting only individuals with outstanding track records and the potential and ambition to achieve over and above the expectations.

Training and Development together with monitoring and mentoring programmes have been designed to ensure Octapharmas´ sales force are prepared to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers. During basic training, customer relationship management skills are taught side-by-side with the science. In this way, Octapharma sales staff are encouraged to develop an understanding that it is as important to distinguish themselves from the rest as it is to differentiate our products from those of our competitors.

Getting to know the company and the people is also recognised as a key part of corporate development. In line with this 15 new Octapharma employees from the USA, Europe, Middle and Far East attended a week long programme at the company´s Vienna facilities. Here in addition to product training, the participants were able to observe the manufacturing process, visit key departments such as R&D and meet members of the Management Board as well as the Heads of Medical, Regulatory, Production, Pre-Clinical Development, Virology, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

"Meeting and getting to know our sales peers from other countries served as a wonderful experience. The training and socialising throughout the 8 days gave us all an opportunity to share and learn from each other. The experience has brought us closer together as a Global Company and Global Sales Team." Mr Pat Arzillo, Vice President of Sales in the US subsidiary.
Students including the newly hired US Territory Managers from California, Chicago, Florida, New Jersey, New York and Texas, were joined by sales staff from, Malaysia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Thailand. This truly international gathering reflects the increasing globalisation of Octapharma.

Octapharma training in Vienna, Austria

Many of the US sales team members came to Octapharma from top US companies such as Pfizer and Merck. A number of them commented that they never experienced anything like this in past training. Usually a former rep does all the training. Never before had they experienced Dept. Heads and Directors giving the presentations. In the words of one student: ”The involvement of such senior Octapharma managers in our basic training shows me the value and importance the Company has put on the Sales Team and the emphasis Octapharma puts on distinguishing our sales team and our training from any other competitor.”

For further information on Octapharma Training activities please contact Judi Miller or for more information on the US please contact Pat Arzillo.
