Octapharma staff running in support of WFH
Sunday is traditionally regarded as a day of rest. Not so for many Octapharma staff! Instead of the usual lie-in, Octapharma employees around the world have been getting up at dawn, donning their running gear, and pounding pavements and parks to train for this years Vienna City marathon. On Sunday 16th May, the training will be over, and the Octapharma group will be running for real amongst the 25,000 athletes from 80 nations expected to compete in this event. Runners will either complete the marathon individually or as part of a four person relay team.
From experienced ultra-marathoners to first time fun runners, Octapharma employees from all levels of the company are united in the twin goals of completing the 42.195km course and raising money for the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH).
On the big day, some of the Octapharma relay runners will carry collection buckets in an attempt to raise money through the generosity of the thousands of cheering spectators lining the route. The Octapharma team is also hoping to raise valuable cash through support from colleagues, friends, families and strangers around the world. To facilitate this, Octapharma has teamed up with the WFH who has created a secure on-line facility for those wishing to offer a donation or sponsor a runner .
For every dollar pledged Octapharma will match it with a corporate donation (up to a maximum of US$ 6,000).

All money raised will go directly to the WFH, a charitable organisation that provides much needed humanitarian aid to people with haemophilia. Money raised through sponsorship of the Octapharma runners will enable the WFH to:
- save lives through the donation of blood treatment products to people in need throughout the world
- train healthcare professionals and provide opportunities for them to share expertise
- increase public awareness of haemophilia
- distribute up-to-date information on haemophilia research and blood safety issues
