New Deputy Chairman for the Octapharma Group

Kim Björnstrup,
Deputy Chairman,
Octapharma Group
Mr. Kim Björnstrup has been appointed as Deputy Chairman for the Octapharma Group. Kim Björnstrup joined the company in 1992 as manager of Legal and Licensing. Since then, he has obtained additional responsibilities for various business lines and staff functions.  In the absence of the Chairman, Mr. Wolfgang Marguerre, Mr. Björnstrup has the authority to act on his behalf.

Other concurrent organizational changes were also announced which will strengthen the company and establish a firm foundation for increasing their global presence while continually improving services provided to new and existing markets.

Following the decentralization of marketing management last year, the role of international business manager (IBM) was created.  The IBMs reside in various countries through-out Europe and are responsible for marketing specific product lines internationally.  In order to align International business management with research and development, both the IBMs and the Head of R&D, Mr. Tor-Einar Svae will now report to Mr. Kim Björnstrup.  Increased collaboration among these functions is expected to maximize the use of resources in R&D for international marketing strategy while providing R&D with valuable market expertise from the IBMs.

Nicholas Jacobson,
COO of Octapharma
In addition to these changes, the production unit in Stockholm, previously a Biovitrum plant until the end 2002, has been successfully integrated and aligned with the Vienna and Lingolsheim plants.  As a result, the management of the three production plants in Vienna, Lingolsheim and Stockholm will all report to Dr. Nicholas Jacobson, COO of Octapharma.  Previously, Mr. Björnstrup oversaw the Stockholm plant during the integration process.  All the organization changes listed above became effective April 15, 2004 .
