2003 Annual Report released
2003 proved to be a difficult year for the pharmaceutical industry and the global economy in general, but Octapharma continued it's 21 year history of growth with a 10% increase in global sales, over 43 million Euros in investments in facilities and research & development, and an increase of 42% in plasma processing capacity. In short, 2003 was a year for firming up the foundation in preparation for additional growth in several new and existing markets while generating gross sales of more than 342 million Euros.
The outlook for 2004 is promising with the recent FDA approval for Octagam in the United States of America and expected product approvals of Wilate in Germany and Uniplas in Switzerland.
Looking ahead to 2005 and beyond, Octapharma will pursue clinical trials with a novel alpha-1-anti-trypsin product in the treatment of emphasema and the first recombinant Factor VIII product based out of human cell lines for the treatment of Haemophilia A.
