Octapharma Collaborates with JMF
Octapharma announced this week that it has entered into collaboration with the Jeffrey Modell Foundation (JMF).
JMF was founded 19 years ago by Fred and Vicki Modell in memory of their son Jeffrey and is dedicated to the early and precise diagnosis, meaningful treatment, and ultimately finding a cure of Primary Immunodeficiencies (PID).
Octapharma shares the same vision and goals and is delighted to be associated with the Foundation whose work around the world brings daily benefits to the PID community. Two of Octapharma's leading products Octagam and Gammanorm are indicated for: replacement therapy in adults and children with primary immunodeficiency syndromes.
Octapharma's sponsorship of JMP will help to support the 5th World Health Organization / IUIS symposia on reclassification of PID's, due to be held in Hungary in 2005.
Financial support will also be given to JMF's latest initiative - the Worldwide Immunodeficiency Network (WIN). WIN is a new and exciting programme designed to unite and strengthen the voices of patient organisations worldwide by:
- serving as a central resource for regional and national patient organizations
- providing meaningful support, encouragement and assistance in developing publications, educational conferences, websites, newsletters, family days, strategies for more government sponsored research and patient advocacy programmes
- lobbying for wider product safety and availability
To date WIN has funded almost 60 projects around the world by awarding grants to patient groups in the US, Canada, latin America, Europe and the Middle East. In addition to support from Octapharma, WIN receives funding from several US government agencies, JMF and other pharmaceutical companies. Committment to the PID communities:
"Octapharma's sponsorship of JMF confirms our absolute commitment to the medical, scientific, public and patient PID communities. We are deeply honoured to be associated with an organisation whose work touches the lives of so many. Through their tireless efforts Fred, Vicky and their extraordinarily dedicated team have brought awareness where once there was ignorance, companionship where once there was isolation and hope where once there was despair."
