Octapharma sends products to
Sri Lanka
and initiates company-wide fundraising effort in response to Tsumani disaster
As an international pharmaceutical company, the call to duty was clear following the news of the Tsumani disaster on December 26. Immediately, (on December 27), Octapharma organized shipments of product donations with a counter value in production costs alone of 100,000 USD to support the urgent need for medical aid in Sri Lanka.
In the next days, Octapharma organized a fund-raising matching program in order to contribute to the efforts of the international relief organizations who are already mobilized in the Tsunami affected areas. Employees will be offering contributions, to be deducted from their February salary payments, which will be matched, dollar for dollar, euro for euro, etc, without a set limit on the final contribution amount.
Wolfgang Marguerre, Chairman & CEO of Octapharma, said “Our deepest sympathies go out to all those people who lost their loved ones, homes, livelihoods, and more in this tragic disaster. All of us from Octapharma are eager to turn our concern into support, and act with expedience and generosity.”
