Octapharma USA Supports South Florida K.I.D.’s Day

On a sunny Saturday, over 100 kids and families with Primary Immune Deficiency (PID) gathered at the Science and Discovery in Fort Lauderdale , FL for the 2006 Jeffrey Modell Foundation KID’s Day.

The fun-filled event, partly supported by Octapharma USA , included a pizza lunch, an Imax movie and a visit to the museum.  More importantly, it offered families a change to interact, support one another and learn how they can live normal lives.

The South Florida families with PID are becoming a close knit unit thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of local physician Gary Kleiner (Immunology) University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Jackson Memorial Hospital and nurse practitioner William Blouin (Immunology) Miami Children’s Hospital.

This group cohesion was clearly demonstrated when Fred and Vicki Modell led the kids, all wearing Octapharma baseball caps in a resounding chant of : South FL Kids! , South FL Kids!

“Being part of the JMF kids day event is very rewarding.  It’s an honor to see how much we can impact children with PID and their families,” reflected Alex Perez, Octapharma USA ’s Florida Territory Business Manager.
