March 29th, 2006 Prof. Dr. med. U. Nydegger Appointed as Medical Director of Octapharma Switzerland
Prof. Dr. Nydegger’s early research at the WHO research unit in Geneva, completed with a 2-year grant from the Swiss Academy of Sciences, along with his years at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, USA, are among an impressive list of qualifications that have resulted in a reputable expertise in autoimmune diseases, i.e. with the complement system and with immunohaematological topics. His work on detecting immune complexes using complement components won him the Prize of the Swiss Society for Internal Medicine in 1975 and the Citation Classic in 1987. Today, he maintains a highly cited publication list in the Science Citation Index. Prof. Dr. Nydegger’s more recent work on intravenous immunoglobulin therapy and ABO-histoblood groups as well as his clinical approach in haemotherapy with plasma and its components has made him a legitimate choice by Octapharma as a Medical Director in Switzerland for some years to come.
