Press Release:
Cross-Border Plasma Donations at the US/Mexican Border

In a letter dated August 27th, 2007, Octapharma voiced serious concerns to PPTA regarding the practice of some of its members to recruit donors from Mexico for its plasmapheresis centers located in communities close to the US/Mexican border.

After in-depth-discussions at the Global Board of PPTA (October 25th, 2007), it was decided that PPTA would not take position regarding the choice of locations of plasmapheresis stations by its members.

Octapharma accepts this position of PPTA and has decided that this allows the company to stay in this organisation and to continue working with its industry peers on other relevant issues of common interest.

Octapharma agrees with the PPTA position that FDA approved plasma collection centers meet or exceed all safety and quality regulatory guidelines.

Octapharma maintains its position that it will only fractionate US plasma from donors with valid US social security cards.
