Press release - The Board of the Octapharma Group appoints Mr. Flemming Nielsen and Mr. Dennis Curtin as Members of the Board.

During the recent Board Meeting in April 2009, Mr. Flemming Nielsen and Mr. Dennis Curtin were appointed as members of the Octapharma Board effective July 1, 2009.  The appointments were made in recognition of each gentleman’s contributions to the Octapharma Group.

Flemming Nielsen
As President of Octapharma USA, Inc., Mr. Flemming Nielsen, who joined Octapharma in 2003 at headquarters in Switzerland but soon thereafter was transferred to the U.S., has been instrumental in Octapharma’s successful expansion in the U.S. market.  In just over four years since the launch of its first product in the U.S., Octapharma USA, Inc. has captured approximately 10% of the marketplace for IVIG in an environment where all of our global competitors were already entrenched. Octapharma USA, Inc. anticipates sales turnover of approximately $300 million in 2009. Over the next few years the company anticipates the introduction of new products and entry into additional therapeutic areas, which will fuel the company’s growth for the next decade.

Dennis Curtin
Mr. Dennis Curtin joined Octapharma during 2008, and serves as President of Octapharma Plasma, Inc., after having worked for many years as Octapharma’s liaison to America's Blood Centers and various source plasma suppliers in the USA.  In spite of his having only recently joined Octapharma, Dennis Curtin has already, through his re-organisation of Octapharma’s acquired plasma collection centers in the US and through his general management of plasma procurement business in the US, been of major importance in consolidating the supply of plasma for Octapharma’s life saving products. Mr. Curtin, the first US citizen now serving on the Board of the Octapharma Group, will be focusing on the expansion of Octapharma's recovered and source plasma supply.

During the Board meeting, Mr. Wolfgang Marguerre, Chairman of the Octapharma Group, expressed his appreciation of the contributions of both gentlemen and warmly welcomed them to the Board.

The Octapharma Group is an independent, Swiss-based biopharmaceutical company operating worldwide. Octapharma’s core business is the development, production, and sale of high-quality human proteins for the treatment of life-threatening diseases.
