Finished Human Proteins

Octapharma develops, produces and distributes finished human protein based products. These are derived from plasma carefully sourced from Austria, Germany, Scandinavia and the USA or human cell lines in case of recombinant products.The highest safety and quality measures are applied throughout manufacture.

Octapharma products include: Fully pharmaceutically licensed virus-inactivated plasma for transfusion (Octaplas) and fractionation products such as coagulation Factors VIII and IX for the treatment of haemophilia, von Willebrand Factor concentrate, prothrombin complex concentrate, immunoglobulins for various indications including immune deficiencies and autoimmune disease and albumin for fluid resuscitation.



Self-Sufficiency

Plasma self-sufficiency can be defined as: the exclusive use of donor plasma from a nation or clearly defined region to meet the clinical needs for therapeutic plasma transfusion and plasma derivatives in that country or region.

The WHO, International Red Cross and Council of Europe have all recommended blood and plasma self-sufficiency as a means to protect and promote the health of donors and recipients of blood and plasma products.
