Octapharma takes the utmost care in plasma sourcing as it is the quality of this valuable raw material that is crucial for the quality of the finished plasma product or plasma for transfusion.
For Octapharma products, plasma is sourced from different suppliers in Europe and the United States of America. The only exception is for self-sufficiency partners where the plasma from the partner country is processed and products are returned to the source of origin.
Octapharma sources plasma only from selected institutions as well as from self-sufficiency partners that meet the following criteria:
- Low incidence of infectious disease markers in the population of potential donors
- Licensed and inspected by the competent authority
- Quality Plasma Programme certified (U.S. plasma centres)
- Inspected and certified by Octapharma quality audit teams
- Established Quality Management System
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Good Laboratory Practice
