In April 1999, Octapharma acquired this production facility in Lingolsheim, near Strasbourg, France. In less than a year, the plant was integrated into Octapharma operations by the transfer of technology for the production of clotting Factors VIII and IX, Immunoglobulins and albumin, using intermediate fractions from the basic fractionation plant in Vienna.
From last quarter of 2001, new equipment had been installed to allow processing of 400,000 litres plasma per year starting with thawing of the plasma pool. This capacity includes the purification of intermediates.
The increase in fractionation capacity was accompanied by enlargement and modernisation of the analytical laboratories and the creation of a state-of-the-art labelling and packaging area.
In 2003 a piece of land adjacent to the Octapharma premises was purchased enabling further extension in the years to come.
In 2005 the planning for rebuilding and construction of a central administration and laboratory building, the cafeteria and the production related personnel facilities was completed and the project initiated.
A production unit for PPSB and FIX concentrates was added 2005/2006 to further increase productivity of the site and strengthen the position of this site as production unit for global self-sufficiency projects.
In 2006 Octapharma completed a production building, which welcomed new personnel facilities for workers and new offices for production and support.
