In April 2006 Octapharma leased the Plasma Fractionation Facility of the DRK - Plasmaverarbeitungsgesellschaft mbH (PVG) owned by DRK-Blutspendedienst NSTOB in Springe. Both companies worked already together since 2002.
In April 2008 Octapharma acquired PVG and adjacent farmland. The company started to extend the Fractionation Facility for increasing the production capacity until 2013. Currently the Springe pant employs 150 people and has an annual fractionation capacity of 600.000 liters of plasma.
Octapharma intents to invest more than 90 Million Euro until 2013 in new buildings and production equipment and offers more than 100 new qualified jobs. After that extension the Springe plant will reach an annual capacity of 1.2 million liters plasma.
The finished products currently produced are Albumin and PPSB. Besides these, all relevant intermediate products of fractionation, i.e. Cryoprecipitate, Fraction IX Intermediate, Fraction I+II+III, Fraction II and Fraction V are manufactured. From 2011 on the Springe plant will produce additional finished products as Octagam, Octaplex and Octanate.
