Introduction

Effective management of bleeding and coagulation disturbances in surgical and critical care settings relies on the timely, precise use of plasma and plasma-derived coagulation factors, which are essential for supporting haemostasis, optimising resource utilisation, and improving patient outcomes.

Building on this clinical need, the symposium explores three key areas: optimising blood product use in surgery; understanding the potential clinical impact of citrate content in plasma; and examining the evolving role of plasma exchange in sepsis.
