"At Octapharma I have the feeling that I'm important"

Elisei Roman plays a pivotal role behind the scenes at Octapharma. As a shift technician at our production site in Springe, Germany, he ensures that machines run smoothly and that every technical issue is resolved.

With passion and tireless dedication, he helps ensure that life-saving products get manufactured daily. The family-like atmosphere and the sense of being an important part of a vital chain make his job a dream come true.

If something jams, drips, or stops working in production at Octapharma Springe, Elisei is the person to call. As a Shift Technician in Maintenance, he ensures that pumps, valves, and machines run smoothly and that any technical issues are quickly resolved. "I did my apprenticeship here; I started when I was 18. I've essentially grown up at Octapharma," he says, reflecting on his personal development at the company. Over the years, he has also gained a wide range of professional skills.

"I've learned a lot; there's always something new to discover. The work is very diverse, and I need to be well-versed in many areas."

Growing together

Elisei has been learning since day one. Whether it's dealing with machine parts breaking for the first time and needing to familiarize himself with the entire setup, or understanding internal processes and responsibilities within the company, he has grown continuously. As a First Support Level Technician, he is responsible for repairs and their documentation. "There are a lot of things you need to know; it's a huge company. And it may sound strange, but I'm needed here. That's why I need to know my stuff." Elisei particularly values this feeling of being needed and important. "I can make a significant contribution here, and that's why I'm happy—I like my job."

If Elisei has suggestions for improving processes or machines, he can bring them to the Automation department. "If a part breaks down or wears out frequently, we can suggest reorganizing the production process. Of course, this doesn't always work, but our suggestions are taken seriously."

"I do something I enjoy, and I have great colleagues. It couldn't be better. Honestly, this is my dream job."

A real family feel

The term "family business" holds a special meaning for Elisei. Four of his siblings work at Octapharma in different production departments, creating a genuine family atmosphere at work every day. "I knew Octapharma from the stories my siblings told me. It always sounded very good; they recommended the company because the working atmosphere is great. And they were right." Elisei's colleagues and the positive team environment significantly contribute to the working atmosphere.

Helping others is a top priority at Octapharma, and Elisei knows this is something special. "My colleagues have a positive influence on me. I enjoy coming to work."

For the young technician, the people he works with are just as important as the exciting tasks and constant learning. "My job is very important to me, especially because of the people, many of whom are my friends. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else." This supportive atmosphere is also nurtured by Elisei's line manager, who ensures that the team not only performs optimally but also feels comfortable in the workplace.

"I couldn't imagine a better boss. When I have problems, he genuinely tries to help. He takes great care of his employees. We can talk to him as equals, and he listens to us."

United by Passion and Purpose

Every department at Octapharma plays a crucial role, as patients rely on life-saving products of the highest quality. Many processes are interrelated and interdependent, and Elisei is keenly aware of this. Ensuring there is no downtime during his shift and that machines keep running is vital to him. "If I get a call from Production that a pump has stopped and they can't continue working without it, I have to react quickly to prevent any production delays. I know I'm making an important contribution here. Without my repairs, our products can't reach the people who need them."

Elisei's colleagues share this commitment, taking their responsibilities just as seriously. Together, they work to ensure Octapharma's products are manufactured without delays—and they have fun doing it.
