Growing together
The Packaging Department at our production site in Dessau holds regular feedback meetings where opportunities for further development are often discussed. During one of these meetings, it was suggested that she take on a new role. Always eager to develop herself further, this was a natural option for her.
She remains very committed to taking on responsibility. "My role is to ensure production runs smoothly. I am responsible for placing orders for the lines, ensuring necessary preparatory work is completed, monitoring work processes and compliance with relevant GMP guidelines, solving problems, and communicating effectively. I must ensure that production maintains the highest quality."
"It might sound cliché, but I genuinely love my job. I truly enjoy the work I do, especially in my current position. There's something fulfilling about waking up each morning and knowing that you're contributing to something meaningful."
At Octapharma, Mara stepped into a management role for the first time. She needs to be flexible at times. "I have the freedom to decide when to complete my tasks, which gives me a lot of autonomy. However, there are always situations that require special attention and need to be prioritized." It's precisely these aspects that add variety to her work.
Products that matter
Every day, Mara is aware of the responsibility she and her team hold in producing Octapharma's life-saving products. "We package and screen medicines, so maintaining the highest quality is crucial. These products don't just reach one customer; they reach patients who rely on them to improve their quality of life or even to survive. Therefore, we all bear a significant responsibility here."
Ultimately, every Octapharma employee is accountable for ensuring that the products leave the site in the best possible condition. "And you should be mindful of that every day. It's not something you can afford to forget."
Stability in an ever-changing world
To prepare for the future, Octapharma continuously reviews all procedures and processes for optimisation potential. Dedicated departments focus on reorganising processes theoretically, and then provide the necessary information to the responsible teams for implementation.
This doesn't always work perfectly from the start. "In a company that is constantly evolving and adapting processes, or when introducing a new system, it often becomes clear in practice where adjustments are needed." Octapharma is always receptive to such changes. "We have daily meetings in which employees can make suggestions, and they are always welcome to approach us outside of these meetings." This ensures that employees are consistently involved and can directly influence the processes they work on every day.

Octapharma is dedicated not only to enhancing people's lives through its products but also to caring for its employees. "There are numerous benefits available, and the company also provides individualized support to staff. We strive to make everyday work life easier wherever possible, particularly in the area of ergonomics. A lot is done to minimize the strain on employees as much as possible."
